We’re so excited to announce, UK based Artist and Designer “Hannah Waldron” has joined LINK’s New Artist!!

Hannah Waldron’s work often explores the textures, patterns, forms and structures of her surroundings, and has an interest in the development of landscape over time. Hannah graduated from the University of Brighton in 2007, and now works commercially as a designer as well as, in her personal work, exploring the process of weaving.

We launched handmade Furoshiki Carry Strap on Etsy!

This handmade leather strap is easily attached, letting you use your furoshiki as a shoulder bag. It’s just as easy to take off again, and doesn’t damage the cloth in any way.

The furoshiki and leather strap take up very little space when folded, making them ideal for traveling!

Eye spied – The Link Collective

So… my much anticipated parcel arrived. Hoorah! And in typical Japanese style, my beautiful Furoshiki was packaged to perfection. The outer envelope is made of a robust plastic material, similar to the stuff those giant bags of wholesale grains is stored in (best description I can think of!) and covered in delicious Japanese text. This little beauty is definitely being used again and again. Nestled next to my Furoshiki was a brochure with cute illustrations explaining how to use it. I think mine will spend most of its life as a scarf, always at the ready to transform into a picnic rug, bottle carrier or hand bag, at the flick of a wrist.

The Link Collective have heaps of other gorgeous goodies. Worth a look.

“Furoshiki” is Japanese traditional wrapping cloth.

In Japan, it is considered impolite to offer a gift directly by hand. To avoid a social gaffe, the ’furoshiki’ serves a useful purpose in an attractive manner. However, etiquette is aserious thing in Japan, and currently there’s adebate on whether a gift wrapped in a’furoshiki’might not be interpreted that the receiving partyis then expected to reciprocate the favour with areturn gift wrapped in the original ’furoshiki’. via Furoshiki

Even though Furoshiki has proper way for using like above example, LINK will offer more modern and casual way especially for spring season. Here are some examples of how to use Furoshiki by LINK.

1) At open air market. You can wrap flowers and even for big baguette!

2) At picnic. You can wrap snacks and 2 bottles of wine.

3) At supermarket. Wearing as scarf, then use as shopping bag.

4) On your trip. Bring compact and make your favorite shape under the sky.

For the 3.11 Tohoku earthquake anniversary, there will be a charity event at HAPPA in Nakameguro.

Japanese architect Jo Nagasaka /sschemata is supporting for making handmade accessories from the roofing tiles destroyed by Tsunami attack in Tohoku area.

They will launch this accessory on 11th/March and there will have charity event with designers/ artist in Japan. LINK will join this event and donate 50% sales for supporting the project.

We’ll join Etsy weekend event in Tokyo from January 21-22. (open from 11:00-17:00)
This is the first market event for Etsy Japan and we’re so happy to join this event.

LINK will have small exhibition and market during 2 days and Kyoko (Link Tokyo) will have Furoshiki Wrapping Workshop on January 22nd from 14:00 to 15:00, using LINK 2012 new launch Furoshiki.
